PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Boiler and performance engineer for Coal/lignite and gas units.
- Boiler/Maintenance Engineer for two (B&W) 440 MW coal-fired units. Conducted inspection and tests, performed root cause analysis of problems related to boiler and boiler components, such as APH, tube temperatures, boiler tube leaks, sootblowing, draft losses and controls.
- Scheduled and conducted boiler performance and boiler tuning tests, including pre-SCR boiler tuning tests. These tests included modifying air curves, GRF, IFGR, FDF, and boiler operation across the load range.
- Scheduled and conducted equipment performance tests. Collected data and analyzed information to make recommendations to management for all generating equipment.
- Analyzed and trended test results data and made recommendations on all turbines, boilers, gas preheaters, condensers, feedwater heaters, pumps, and fans.
- Inspected cooling towers, boilers, and turbines during shutdowns.
- Responsible for emissions testing and reporting on coal-, gas-, and oil-fired units utilizing a mobile lab measuring NOX, CO2, CO, and O2.
- Supervised junior engineers, trainees, and technicians and oriented new power engineers on testing systems and procedures.
- Worked with Brown & Root Control System Tuning specialist during shutdowns, startups, and normal operations to optimize unit performance.
- Performed acceptance testing on turbines and boilers during acquisitions of existing and major equipment upgrades.
- Continually reviewed and analyzed operating reports to ensure maximum performance and efficient operations on 420 MW coal/fired unit.
- Reported abnormal operations to management and recommended corrective actions based on experience and testing.
- Served as project manager for plant projects as needed.
- Conducted engineering feasibility studies for plant heat rate improvement and steam consumption for sootblowing operations project.
- Followed TNRCC and EPA guidelines for operation of all boilers, FGDS, stack and related equipment.
