Mr. Nidd is a Canadian citizen who resides in Houston, Texas. He has in excess of 30
years of technical experience in the asset integrity business, having served both as an
operating pipeline company Asset Integrity Manager and as an independent Asset
Integrity Consultant during this time period. In his present position as Director of
Pipeline Integrity and Special Projects for APTECH, Mr. Nidd acts as a Manager for
Pipeline Services and in addition manages all Houston based litigation engineering
support projects. Mr. Nidd has recently managed several large scale litigation support
projects including most recently a seven man APTECH technical team that provided
support for a ten month duration in regards to a pipeline failure litigation matter, for
the legal firmWoodward, Hobson & Fulton LLP. In addition, Mr. Nidd is leading
several APTECH iT initiatives, including the development of an electronic document
control system that serves to provide a low cost, secure storage and access database
process to manage excessive volumes of data relating to litigation projects.
Mr. Nidd was previously employed by a Canadian operating pipeline company where he
managed:
- Development and implementation of the Company’s USA and Canadian system
pipeline integrity management program, which included over 1500 miles of in
line inspection and over 3500 specific pipeline integrity excavations along with
related defect assessment and repair.
- Development and utilization of the Company’s SCC and corrosion susceptibility
models and risk assessment models.
- Development and direction of the Company’s SCC Research Program and
implementation of pipeline integrity data management systems.
- The undertaking of field failure investigations and the direction of corrosion and
coating analysis conducted by metallurgical firms.
- The development and utilization of the Company’s defect assessment criterion
and repair methodology for
- The development of the Company’s procedures for all pipeline integrity
activities, including NDE, clock spring applications, defect assessment, defect
repair methodologies, coating selection, in line inspection applications / data
auditing and the development and approval of specifications for construction
and operation related issues.
- Representation on several technical committees including the Canadian Energy
Pipeline Association (CEPA) commission on stress corrosion cracking (SCC).
As a recognized expert in the field of asset integrity management, Mr. Nidd has traveled
extensively for technical meetings and has performed project consulting in Russia,
Ecuador, Argentina, USA and Canada, acting as the pipeline integrity consultant on the
following selected major projects:

Most recently Mr. Nidd:
- Is acting as a manager of a multi disciplined litigation engineering support team
offering technical support regarding pipeline failure litigation proceedings
leading to trial in 2008.
- Acted as a manager of a multi disciplined litigation engineering support team
that provided engineering support during pipeline failure litigation proceedings
leading to settlement in 2007.
- Co-authored a major two-part magazine article, along with engineering
associates and attorneys, published in June and September, 2007 relating to “Litigation Consequences of Pipeline Integrity Management Choices”.
- Facilitated the offering of a three day training course in South Africa entitled; “Program On Pipeline Management And Integrity” attended to by oil industry
management and technical personnel.
- Co- authored a paper for presentation at the 2007 Rio Pipeline Conference
entitled “OCP In Line Inspection Program: Technical Challenges And Unique
Contractual Approaches”.
- Acted as a Senior Pipeline Integrity Consultant to the Oleoducto De Crudos
Pesados (OCP Ecuador) pipeline integrity team, assisting in the areas of contract
development, contract award, writing of critical procedures, development of
excavation and repair criteria, development of integrity management plans, and
general technical support.
- Managed the development of an APTECH electronic document control system
that serves to provide a low cost procedure controlled, electronic document
imaging, storage and access database process to manage excessive volumes of
data relating to litigation and engineering projects.
